In 1964, Parfumerie started as Marjo's drugstore on the Zeedijk. This family business, set up by Marit and Joop de Groot, sold perfumes in addition to the classic drugstore products. It quickly became clear that the majority of customers were interested in the latter. Together with their two sons Hugo and Erwin, it was decided to specialize in perfumes. “The specialization was a strategic choice: this focus allows us to specialize and profile ourselves even better.”
“As long as you don't make perfume yourself, you are only as good as the collaboration with your partners.” To keep their suppliers, luxury perfume houses and customers satisfied, it is important to provide a good user experience. "Within the Parfumerie.nl concept, luxury products, offering an experience and an impeccable appearance are central," says Hugo de Groot.

Every detail of the new webshop had to be taken care of down to the last detail for both consumers and suppliers. That is why it was a logical step to choose Magento 2 Commerce. The fact that niche shops can easily be created with Magento 2 was also an important motivation.

“We are still growing almost every month,” says Hugo de Groot, “With Magento 2 Commerce we can offer even more experience.” Luxury brands appreciate this approach: “For example, when Hermès comes to the Netherlands, they visit 3 points of sale: the Bijenkorf on Dam Square, a large perfume chain in Kalverstraat and us.” Since the webshop went live, the share of mobile orders has increased from 30 to 55 percent. In addition to the existing web shops in the Netherlands and Belgium, Parfumerie has ambitions for niche shops for the most exclusive fragrances.
